CLARKE COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) - Clarke County EMA Director Roy Waites said several families were sent to a shelter after a severe storm destroyed their homes. Waites said his EMA teams are assessing the damage throughout the night.

Clarke County Emergency Management Agency said roads were open after trees and power lines were down in the area. Officials said several structures have been reported damaged. According to the National Weather Service in Mobile homes were destroyed on Old Lock 1 Road near Hwy 69 in Grove Hill, also debris on Hwy 43 in Antioch.

Damage is also confirmed South of Grove Hill on Highway 43. Officials also report damage in Mays Crossroads. Officials are on the ground assessing the damage during the inclement weather.
Washington County officials report damage as well
Washington County Sheriff's officials said officers were on the scene of possible tornado damage along County Road 34. NWS officials report a roof was blown off a home, and a 12x16 storage building was destroyed.
Cities in Washington County include Chatom, Fruitdale, McIntosh, Milry and Leroy.
