CULLMAN, Ala. (AP) - Store owners in some Alabama towns are gearing up for their first New Year's Eve since alcohol sales were made legal during 2012.

The Cullman Times reports that voters approved legalized liquor sales in Hanceville in March by a 495-398 vote.

Since then, the city of Good Hope also voted to legalize alcohol sales in August by a vote of 293 to 241.

Inside Pop-A-Top package store in Hanceville, shelves were stocked and coolers full to capacity. Owner Eddie Hamm says that every holiday this year has seen strong sales so far, so he's hopeful that New Year's Eve will also bring brisk business.
