(DAPHNE, Ala.) A teenager is charged with kidnapping and robbery after say Daphne police say he abducted his father with a machete. Zachary Barber, 19, is accused of using a machete to force his adoptive father to drive from their home in Fairhope to Hancock Bank in Daphne.

Police say the teen threatened to kill his father if he did not withdrawal money. When the teen's dad tried to get away, police say the 19 year old chased him around the parking lot of the bank with the knife. The man was eventually able to get away when he ran inside and employees locked the door. Authorities say Barber took off in his father's car and crashed it a short time later.

The teen was taken to Thomas Hospital to be treated for self inflicted wounds, then booked into the Baldwin County Jail.

Badhairda2, I agree with you but over in Baldwin County, the rules are completely different. Bonds are at least 10 times higher than in Mobile. I had a friend that got stuck in Baldwin County jail for 6 months based on a accusation that his neighbors teenage daughter claimed that he was looking at her through her bedroom window. They made his bail $100,000 for stalking. Six months later, the teenager finally admitted that she made the whole thing up. She did it because he told her parents about a beer party she had one weekend when they were out of town. They dropped all charges and let him out on the public street. He had to call someone to pick him up. He lost his job, had to file bankruptsy, and his wife divorced him because everyone thought he did it. Nothing happened to the teen, his whole life was ruined in addition to losing six months of his life. Like I said, Baldwin County has their own rules.

I have a new revolutionary device called an "Anti-Machete Attack Tool" I bought at the Hardware store a few months ago. It's round and made from galvanize with a small handle in the middle and has a circular container that fits underneath it that holds garbage if needed.

If it was my Son the this would not have happened. My Son would not be eager to see another day come after he tried to kill me with a machete, I would beat him to an inch of his life. If this has been going on for years than why hasn't this guy been locked up in a Mental Institution? Quit blaming his problems on the so-called flawed system..My guess is that he is on illegal Drugs and that makes him do stupid idiotic things. There is a lot of ways to get rid of this loco lunatic, read some fictional books about staged accidental deaths and go from there.

Lets all try to keep in mind that this is someones family! They have been trying to get him help for many years, but the system is flawed. Lets keep in mind that his family is obviously very hurt by his actions. Think about if this was your son and it doesn't matter if they are adopted or not. They are loved either way.

It's time for the Father to "unadopt" this physco! Sometimes you just have to cut your losses and move on. I'm sure this idiot is a doper and stoner judging by his primitive tribal swahili appearance.

Chuck, i agree with what u are saying except, for one thing, he will not be in that long. slap on hand and out the door. look at what happen this week with the guy high on drugs crashed his vechile into a family killing people and destroying a family. his rap sheet was ridiculous long. he had been jail and right back out many times. why can't our justice system quit with the bleeding hearts and get them the help they need. at least keep them in jail long enough for them to dry out!!

all these years and millions spent and we still have not eradicated drugs from our society.its beyond pitiful how many young lives have been totally destroyed and too often ended by the use of drugs.we all should pray for this young mans recovery and millions more like him all across this country.
