JimSmith, I don’t know what makes you so stupid, but it really works! So what gather from your sad and demented thought process, cops can be heroes as long as they don't paid? Or are you just a cop hater? Or maybe the reason is because when the time comes for your passing the people you know won't go to your funeral to mourn or grieve over you, they will go to simply make sure you're stay dead? You're truly the turd that won't flush

Um, JimSmith, a window washer who "dies when his scaffolding breaks loose plunging him to his death from 30 stories up" doesn't die protecting and serving the lives of others. Apples and oranges. I'd bet my top dollar you have warrants/have served time/have received multiple speeding tickets. I hope Mrs. Ward never reads your idiotic comment.

"Hero" is defined as "Man of Distiguished Bravery". Any LEO in todays society could and should be defined as a "Hero". These "Hero's" are preforming a service that is NOT suited for many individuals. Being a LEO, FireFighter, Security Officer or Military, requires intestinal fortitude, which sadly is lacking in many individuals.

A hero is the fireman who risks his or her life to rescue the window washer who is in trouble. Sanitation workers, although a vital part of out community, seldom have to put their lives on the line to protect the general public. Officers killed in the line of duty, as are soldiers, are heros because they risk their live to protect people they serve... even those who don't appreciate their service. Hope that helps bring a better understanding of why it's a big deal.

They sure make a big production when one of their own gets killed. No one is a hero who does what he gets paid to do, or dies doing it. Most wouldn't consider a window washer a hero if his scaffolding broke loose plunging him to his death from 30 stories up. So where did the idea that cops are some kind of hero because they might get killed while on the job? If a sanitation worker dies on the job do all the garbage trucks line up to send him off? It's all brainwashing to keep the sheep in line. Wholly bogus.
