HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - U.S. Senator Richard Shelby says Republican candidate Mitt Romney lost the presidential election because the GOP got beaten in the ground game.

Shelby told a Republican Men's Club on Saturday that Republicans failed to get their voters to the polls.

He also said the Republican Party needs to broaden its base and reach out to minority groups, including Hispanics and Asians. Shelby said Romney would have also done better if he had gotten more votes from women.

AL.com (http://bit.ly/XlQk4h ) reports that Shelby also said a contentious Republican presidential primary weakened Romney ahead of the general election against President Barack Obama, a Democrat.

Willard Mitt Romney lost the Presidential election due to the fact that their bet on demonizing President Obama and obstructing at every turn for four entire years would cause enough misery for the country, that the people would vote for anyone, such as romney and ryan as long as it would get President Obama out of office, but they lost this bet, because the campaign of well heeled money, lies, distortion, and gutter politics did not result in the outcome many had predicted.Democracy ruled the day on November 6,2012.

Hey CT14, even your god liked Obama better than Romney. Otherwise how do you explain all the churches asking their members to pray for Romney and see how that turned out. Your god has spoken.

I think the GOP screwed itself by not having a decent candidate. The election before this one they had no one worth voting for when you consider Sarah Palin. McCain would have been alright if he had picked someone better. By picking Palin as his running mate, he has shown me that he has lost most of his marbles and it's probably a good thing that they lost that one! Can you imagine McCain dying and Palin becoming our President? No way! Then the election before that they were trying to keep Bush in office for a second term which they suceeded at. I had already had enough of Bush and his weapons of mass destruction bull crap in his first term so I just didn't vote for none of them. Then this year they drag out a rich CEO type dude that said he loves to fire people. After all the banking theivery and the bailouts given to them (banks) while the needy people go hungry, do you really think all these unemployed and homeless people are going to vote for someone that is no where in touch with the average American? Not no, but hell no! Yes I believe also that by Obama meddling with the illegal immigrants and going around the immigration laws that have worked and been in place for so many years, he bought the Mexican vote at our expense. I'm still hoping the supreme court will put him in his place on that. Also by not securing the Mexican border as it should be, he has done nothing but allow millions more of these freeloaders in to our country, again also at our expense. That has got to stop!!! Really now, how can anyone stand up and say we need to allow more illegals in our country when unemployment is so high and the country has been run in to the ground and broke? Doesn't even begin to make sense. Also both Obama and Romney are both pathetic liars! Everyone got a chance to hear their lies broadcast throughout the nation but yet for some reason the people of this country seem not to care. I guess it's gotten to the point that we elect the best liar now.

Nope! The truth is that Obama is the new welfare President. How far we've fallen in 24 years from a noble and dignified President like Ronald Reagan to a person like Obama that was supported by Hugo Chavez, Castro's daughter, and all our sworn enemies around the world. Obama gave the illegals free access to the US, fought for voter ID, and waived the restrictions on work for welfare. Now the US is the laughing stock of the entire world, with socialist countries in Europe happy that Obama won. We're a broke nation, 16 trillion dollar in debt, massive deficits, and things like drugs, abortions, same sex marriage adding to the decline and decay of what was this once great country was founded upon and built on the opposite. The rest of the world wants to see an end to America's exceptionalism and that is why they supported Obama. We're now a dumbed down society where people with no skin in the game can now vote for the person that gives them the most free stuff. The problem that everyone is ignoring is that sooner than later the money from the working people run out and the bums and leeches that voted for Obama will wonder what happened to all the freebies they were getting. 47 million people on welfare and 50% of the US population receiving government assistance will end quickly and a country can not withstand that for much longer. Perhaps a nation has to hit rock bottom before it can arise again, and we're closer than most think we are now. When the federal government through corruption, lame stream media biasness, Hollywood inclusion, and poor people control the elections for their own benefit and agenda we're no longer living in a Democracy or Republic, we're living in socialist times and history has proven that socialist countries survive a very short time. Lucky for me I was able to see the best of America before it became what it is today.

Long story short, Obama won because more people felt he would do a better job than Romney and then those same people cast their votes. Even with all the help Fox News heaped on Romney, he came in second. End of story, so get over it and let’s move on.
