Sales Tax Revenue and General Fund Down Drastically in Mobile

Dear Mr. William Carroll: It is not surprising that you would look to the Federal and State governments for help while ignoring the reality that higher tax rates lead to lower revenue. If 10% is not enough why not 12% or 15%? Will you never learn?

Speaking for myself, as well as for probably hundreds more, I have stopped buying anything within the Mobile city limits unless I absolutely have to. This is primarily because of the high sales taxes, as well as the crime rate that never seems to abate. Mobile doesn't seem to have enough police officers on patrol to keep their cars constantly visible, so criminals take advantage of that. At some periods of the day, it may be possible to spot several cars, but not all of the time.
