(Mobile, Ala.) August 6th--The Mobile County School System is now raising the price of lunch by 25-cents, blaming the hike on the rising cost of food. Starting August 10th, elementary school students will pay $1.75 for lunch instead of $1.50. Middle and high school students would pay $2.00. The increase will not affect students in the free or reduced lunch program---and NBC15 News has learned that's 68 percent of the school population.
The school cafeteria is where your child can sit down and have a good hot meal. It’s also one of the many places inspectors watch closely --to ensure that everything cooked in the kitchen is done following strict health standard. School cafeterias in Mobile and Baldwin County are inspected at least 3 times a year. So far, Mobile County Health inspectors say your money is well spent.
