PRICHARD, Ala. (WPMI) Earlier this week Judge Michael Youngpeter made a ruling that dissolved Prichard’s Water Works and Sewer Board and transferred the system to MAWSS.

The Prichard Water Board plans to appeal the decision.

State legislators attended a meeting in Prichard with the group that started the petition to have Mobile Area Water and Sewer System take over Prichard Water.

Many of the group's activists said it’s unfair that the Prichard Water Board is using their tax money to fight the judge’s decision.

"I think it’s morally wrong to continue. I don’t think it is an ethical issues, but I think it’s morally wrong for them to continue to use public funds to fight against us in Court,” said Ala. State Representative Napoleon Bracy.

The judge is scheduled to hear the Prichard Water Board’s request a stay of his order Friday morning.
