(PRICHARD, Ala.) October 11 -- The City of Prichard held it's annual Public Safety Day, Saturday, to help kids understand the importance of personal and community safety.
The event took place at the city's newly expanded facility on Mt. Sinai Drive in the Whistler community. The purpose of the event was to give the community a glimpse of what policeofficers and firefighters do on a regular basis. Officials also gave children valuable tips on fire and crime prevention.
Mayor Ron Davis helped fire and rescue officials demonstrate a rescue operation by being hoisted into the air via a safety harness.
