(GULF SHORES, Ala.) Four months after bones washed up on the beach in authorities have identified who those bones belong to. They are from Eric Pye, 31, of South Carolina. He drowned off of Orange Beach during Tropical Storm Debbie back in June.

DNA samples helped identified the remains. Pye was on his honeymoon when he went missing.

"The two bones belonged to the same person and then ultimately we started to get comparison samples from family members," said Sgt. Jason Woodruff with the Gulf Shores Police Department.

The bones, a leg and and arm bone, washed up near the Gulf State Park Pier in September. Detectives quickly made contact with the families of several different missing persons.

"It was a needle in a haystack I didn't necessarily know especially when we got into the dozens we were speaking to directly. I didn't know that we would ever close it and it was nice to get a match," said Woodruff.
