(MOBILE, Ala.) Nov. 23 - A man authorities say was involved in a domestic violence case will face attempted murder and arson charges. That's according to Mobile County's District Attorney, John Tyson.

Authorities say Mark Peters cut a woman in the face and then locked himself inside the house and set it on fire. It happened Sunday Night at a home on Old Pascagoula Road in Theodore.

The next day, some of the neighbors were just starting to hear the disturbing details.

"Cut her on her face, Wow I didn't know that. That's pretty wild," says Jeremy Jones. He knew something was up the night before. "A bunch of ambulances, and fire trucks and police cars."

But he didn't know what. Not like another neighbor, Wendy Cole.

Sunday Night Cole told Local 15 News, "I had someone banging on my door asking to call the police, call an ambulance because her sister had been stabbed in the face. "

Police say Peters and the victim had a relationship, but won't say to what extent.

Fire officials say the man set two fires in the house. Police say they were located in the living room and a rear bedroom. Peters was inside was unconscious when authorities got in. He was sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation and respiratory failure.

The woman also went to the hospital for the cuts on her face. It's not clear if she was still there Monday Night, but authorities say the man is still in the hospital.
