(MOBILE, Ala.) Police chaplain's are working to help fellow officers and family cope with the death of Officer Steven Green. He was killed Friday as he was transporting a robbery suspect to Metro Jail.
"On average every 57 hours an officer is killed in the line of duty," Chaplain Jerry Brown said. "It's ironic and it's sad and it's tragic that that 57 hours came to our community."
Brown says fellow officers and Green's family are finding strength in each other, in faith and in knowing that Officer Green will be remembered for exactly what he is: a hero.
"In the days to come, when his children get older, they're gonna be able to look back and see that their dad was a genuine real hero for the community of Mobile," Brown said.
He says the overwhelming support from the community has also helped fellow officers.
