(MOBILE, Ala.)   Mobile Police Department are putting a plan into action this weekend to keep residents safe during Mardi Gras season. After the shooting in Bienville Square on New Year's Eve, officials stated they plan to take extra measures to keep everyone safe at public events.

The Mobile Police Department set up a Mobile Command Center to manage officers during Mardi Gras parades.

"Inside there it's where really all the organization goes for directing officers to certain areas, to communications, the radio communications," said Levy.

You can expect to see a strong police presence downtown. The Police Department stated it will have more than 400 officers on hand each day until Mardi Gras season is over. Officers will be working each and every intersection downtown.

"And that's one thing that we do. We have a ton of police officers down there both uniformed and plain clothes officers working the crowd," said Levy.

Officials encouraged residents to get the attention of an officer if something looks suspicious.

"We usually have alert citizens that notify officers when they believe something is unsafe and allow us to go over there and handle a situation. We know that it exist, and we're on the look out for it, " said Levy.

In essence Levy is saying that Mobile Mardi Gras is entirely unsafe and with only 400 Police Officers among 50-75K people they are fighting a losing battle. What Levy is saying is nothing new,the procedures that he outlined have been in place for decades and we'll still see violence and mob mentality among certain ethnic groups. They should target black males and profile the ones in the 12-35 age groups, that's where you'll find the weapons and the ones that have wreaking havoc on their agendas. The MPD already know this and Levy certainly can't say it publicly because the racism screamers will shout like it's a fire in a orphanage.
