Christmas Tree Sales are Up
(Summerdale, Ala.) Dec. 3 -
Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to pull out the Christmas trees. Local Christmas tree farms are open, and as local 15's Lindsay Bramson reports, even if the economy is in bad shape, people are still getting in the holiday spirit. We're still three weeks away from Christmas, but Talty O' Connor and his wife Carey don't want to wait any longer to get their Christmas tree. O’Connor says, "we've been coming for 10 years or so." And while this year has been tough economically for many families including the O’ Connors, they say Christmas without a tree...isn't Christmas. He says, "we have to skimp on things but we're not going to go without a tree."
Fish River Tree Farm in Summerdale has only been open a week, but owner Steve Mannhard says they've been busier than last year. Mannhard says, “The sales were about on track with last year if not even a touch better which was really surprising." Surprising because Mannhard says he knows things have been financially hard for many. He says, "There’s so much negativity about people not spending, but I haven’t seen that."
Fish River Tree Farm is open every day of the week from 8 until 5 until December 23rd.
