(ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla.) - A man from Pensacola was killed after he was hit by a car while crossing the street Saturday night.

The Florida Highway Patrol said 30-year-old Glen Janes was crossing W Street, just north of Gandy, when he walked into the path of a Honda Accord.

Officials say Janes wasn't in a crosswalk when he was struck. The driver and passenger of the Honda Accord were not hurt, and will not be charged.

Some things are just tragic accidents. Could they have been prevented? Sure, if both cases, if the people had not stepped off the curb in the middle of a block in front of a 200 lb vehicle. Sad in any case - and the policeman in Mobile will undergo a greater look-see because he is a policeman. The driver in P'Cola was cleared almost immediately because of the accident scene and because he/she wasn't a cop. But because of longie and his other follows of fed, we must examine our law officers more. Part of being in law enforement.

Where are the arm chair quarterbacks on this one? Wait...it doesn't involve a cop!
