PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - The Pascagoula City Council has approved a new approach to determine the salaries for city employees to go into effect in 2013.
The Sun Herald reports the new plan will base salary off of the jobs' values rather than the people fulfilling those positions. In a study that compared Pascagoula's city employees' salaries to those of other local, state, and national figures, it was found that Pascagoula was about $17,000 short of the total employee pay.
Human resources director Glenda Beal said the new approach will include "changes to new jobs and ones that have substantially changed as far as duties" and that adjustments will be made to those salary ranges.
Beal said the new approach will affect just five or six people.
