MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Mayor Sam Jones and City Councilman William Carroll met with Murphy High School students Wednesday to paint the cannon in Midtown.

Murphy High School was heavily damaged in the Christmas Day tornadoes. School officials have decided to send Murphy students to Clark-Shaw Magnet School until repairs can be made.

The painting marks the support for the historic high school's restoration.

There is an informational meeting Wednesday night for Murphy parents. It begins at 7 p.m., at the Mobile Civic Center. A meeting for Clark-Shaw parents will be Thursday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. in the school gym.
