OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is opening a cold case to see if they can come up with any new leads.

Nineteen-year-old Debra Espy disappeared on March 12, 1973, after her father dropped her off at a Niceville college. But she never came home.

Espy's body was found a month later after a person on a motorcycle noticed legs protruding from the ground in a shallow grave.

Officials say Espy died from blunt force trauma to the head. She had a broken jaw and investigators suspect she was sexually assaulted. They believe she may have known her killer.

If you have any information about this crime, contact the sheriff's office at (850) 651-7400.
