BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. (AP) - The Hancock County Civic Center being built atop a parking garage in downtown Bay St. Louis is expected to be "substantially complete" in the next two weeks.
County building official Anthony Cuevas tells The Sun Herald the building sits on the property that was the site of the Hancock County jail prior to Hurricane Katrina.
Hancock County Board of Supervisors President Lisa Cowand said the entire project including the parking garage has come to an estimated cost of $5 million.
The center will be used for conferences, meetings and receptions, will feature a full kitchen and dance floor and hold a maximum of 250 people.
