MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) A group of Mobile officials are trying to bring the 2017 U.S. Bowling Congress Women's Championships to the Port City.
The tournament could bring more than 30,000 bowlers from around the country into Mobile and generate $40 million.
The decision should be made by February 1.
"We were one of six finalists. I am not sure of the other cities but I got wind that three of the cities have casinos in them, which makes it really tough. But we still went out and presented our positive attributes," said Danny Corte, Executive Director of the Mobile Sports Authority.
In 1994, Mobile hosted the USBC's Men's Championship. To date, it's the largest convention event ever held at the Convention Center.
