(SPANISH FORT, Ala.) Nov. 3 - For the first time since Eric Buzbee was found not guilty in the brutal beating death of Bobby Wilson, Wilson's family is speaking out.
Tuesday morning, Bobby's daughter Tracey Goens gave media interviews at Wilson's Service Center in Spanish Fort.
Shortly afterwards, Goens announced her endorsement in the 2010 Baldwin County District Attorney's race. Goens is not supporting incumbent Judy Newcomb. Instead, she is endorsing Attorney General prosecutor and former Baldwin County Chief Assistant District Attorney Hallie Dixon.
"I think she cares," Goens says. "I think now is the time this community needs to look and ask questions, who is speaking for us as victims."
Goens says she was disappointed that Newcomb did not personally try her father's murder case. Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Pylant was the lead prosecutor.
"You kind of feel like she abandoned you in a time when she needs to be up there fighting for us, trying to get justice brought to this family," Goens says.
"If I were D.A., I would've tried the case," Dixon says. "I want to fight for the victim's of my home."
"I did try this case. My office tried this case. We were all part of the prosecution team," Newcomb says.
Newcomb says her office did everything in its power to secure a conviction, and a high profile loss shouldn't become political ammo.
"I just think they're a grieving family, and this wasn't the time to interject politics into it," Newcomb says.
The district attorney will be elected November 2010. Newcomb has been the D.A. since March 2006. She began working in the D.A.'s office in 1991.
