BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - A former police officer and strip-club owner is out of prison after serving time for participating in a murder plot against a Mississippi Gulf Coast judge and his wife.
The Sun Herald (http://bit.ly/T6VEBb) reports that 71-year-old Glenn Joseph Cook Sr. was due for release Friday. WLOX-TV (http://bit.ly/10wZ1HG) reports that he was released from the medium-security prison in Beaumont, Texas, with orders to spend six months in a New Orleans halfway house.
The Bureau of Prisons website showed him as "in transit" on Saturday.
Cook was among six people convicted of arranging the 1987 slayings of Vincent and Margaret Sherry.
He was released in 2008 and ordered to stay out of Mississippi, but was returned to prison after being arrested two days later in Jackson County on a domestic violence charge.
