No mention of the shooting and brawl that happened in Bienville Square at midnight? It was part of the New Year celebration whee gunfire and violence goes hand in hand in Downtown Mobile. And BTW 'Oh Really', the name Fred Richardson is your given name and anyone can easily see that. I seen that when you first posted a few years back. Any negative comments about Fred's poor speech and lack of english language skills gets reported by you everytime it gets posted. The silly moonpie is an embarrassment to the citizens of Mobile,Alabama and you know it.

And BTW MayMan - to pharaphrase: "Even the wisest of men need some follishness now and then." Thus the follow-up question: how wise are you? Just saying.

Poor old MayMan - just don;t know how to loosen up - last night was a wonderul ecperience for a cross section of Mobile as well as visitors - people of all ages from kids in strollers to the extreme elderly. And, yes, it does make money for the city. And, probably most sad, MayMan, it is supposed to be a joke, a silly idea that captures peoples conversation and interest. That is what makes it unique. Insofar as New York is concerned - you are herded into "sections" and cannot really leave that area until the event is over. Yes there are a lot of people, but unlike Mobile it is not a celelbration-type atmosphere with multiple bands, people moving around freely and the carnival atmosphere. You are a captive audience in NYC and only after the ball drops can you move. (If you leave your section before that you are not allowed re-entry. On television NYC looks great, in person not so much. Mobile is a much better experience, one we can joke and laugh about - but I guess you missed it again this year. How 'bout we meet next year at the corner of Royal and Dauphin - say around 11? I'll show you around.

The man is a complete idiot to think that New Year's Eve in Mobile can compete with New York and Times Square, where the New York people count is in the millions. Imagine that, just a few months ago these came people were crying about how broke and in debt Mobile was, threatening to layoff city employees, yet they always find other peoples money to throw a party. Incidentially, Barbara Drummond, just like last year will stall the City Council requests for months about the cost of all this to taxpayers and then throw out some dishonest and made up number that show that the New Years Eve party somehow was profitable. It's all designed to fleec the taxpayers and it is a laugherd at celebration by outsiders. Last night I read several comments on a football message board and the Mobile Moonpie was the butt of jokes and disparaging comments came from all over the US.
