(MOBILE, Ala.) July 1 - A story now that might make you think twice before handing over money on a promise. A man is promising local people and businesses he'll put them in a movie….if they give him some cash. But not everyone thinks his promise will be fulfilled. As NBC 15 found out, businesses are giving up money to what could be a scam.

It’s not unusual for a movie to be filmed in Mobile. Filmmakers have certainly visited the Gulf Coast before. Just aks Eva Golson who says if there’s a movie being made here, she’s the 1st to know. “The thing is if you’re legitimate, you’re certainly gonna call our office because there’s so many things we can do to help you.”

Recently, Golson says a man has been going around town asking businesses to invest in his film called Central Airlines.  He’s asked business owners to invest anywhere from $5,000 all the way up to $14,000 dollars.  But Golson says things aren’t adding up the way they should be. Golson says, “we found that there is no script and we can’t see that there are any funds available to make a movie.”

Tina Waller with the Better Business Bureau says she’s been receiving calls from concerned business owners that have given the man money.  One of those businesses she says is Azalea Funeral Home in Mobile.  They didn’t want to talk with us on camera, but did admit to paying the man money.

According to a release, the movie was set to begin filming last month.  Something Golson says hasn’t even started.”

NBC 15 News contacted the man who says he is in fact filming parts of a movie here. He tells us production has been delayed due to logistics.
