MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Law Enforcement Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice and those who have survived dangerous situations were honored at a prayer luncheon at Cottage Hill Baptist Church Thursday.

Officers joined local and state officials at the 15th Annual Prayer Luncheon sponsored by the Chaplain's Office from the Mobile Police Department to pray for servicemen and their families.

"May the Lord keep you in the palm of His hand as you fight evil to protect us all. We support you," said District Attorney Ashley Rich.

Dozens of servicemen from Foley, Saraland, Prichard, Mobile County, Baldwin County, and more joined local and state officials to recognize two fallen law enforcement officers. Students from the University of Mobile presented a special music selection.

Thursday, officials recognized to fallen servicemen.

Mobile Police Officer Steven Green was stabbed to death while transporting a robbery suspect to Metro Jail last year. This past November, Baldwin County Deputy Scott Ward was shot and killed responding to a disturbance call.

Both Officer Green and Deputy Ward's families were presented with Hometown Hero Awards recognizing their loved one's service.

Officials in attendance said rallying behind hurting families to say thank you was the least they could do.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange was the guest speaker. He expressed his condolences and gratitude to the families of Green and Ward.

He stated, "All I can say is on behalf of all Alabamians is we can never thank you enough for your families commitment."
