MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Officials with the Alabama Department of Environmental Management say they're reviewing a report submitted by Mobile Gas on that foul odor in Eight Mile.

Mobile Gas installed a system in October 2012, to capture the Butyl Mercaptan that's causing the smell. The equipment separates the chemical from the ground water.

ADEM identified the source of the spill as a site off Cochran Road.

Residents say the aeration and vapor system isn't doing much. They say they're still getting sick.

Mobile Gas had a January 30 deadline to submit a report showing the status of the system. ADEM said Mobile Gas made that deadline, and experts will review the data.

That report will soon be available on ADEM's website.
