MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) The Mobile Fire Department is doing more than putting out fires this weekend.
Friday marked the beginning of their Fill the Boot campaign.
It benefits local families and children who are living with muscular dystrophy.
The firefighters are at several intersections collecting money from drivers to fill their fire boots.
Members of Mobile Fire-Rescue say this campaign has always been a success.
"We generally get a pretty good turnout every year, whether it's raining or sun shining. People come out and they give,” says Robert Schmidt with Mobile Fire-Rescue.
They'll be out every Friday and Saturday until March 23rd.
