Mobile County Health Department offering $5 flu shots

(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mobile County Health Department staff will offer flu shots for $5 at Yorktown Baptist Church from noon to 3 p.m. on Jan. 6. The health agency's mobile unit will be parked at the church.

The vaccine will protect against three influenza viruses health officials believe will be most common during the flu season.

Alabama is reporting high numbers of flu or flu-like illnesses, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The seasonal flu vaccine is available those 6 months of age and older and is especialy important for people at higher risk of severe influenza.

Flu shots are also available throught the week without an appointment for $15 from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Health Department's Immunization Clinic.
