(Coden, Ala.) June 17 - A church in Coden is badly damaged after catching fire Wednesday afternoon. Members were working on insulation inside Sweet Bethel Missionary Baptist Church around 3 p.m. Wednesday when they smelled smoke.
It took firefighters nearly two hours to extinguish the flames. Right now, the cause is not known. The Fire Marshal is expected on the scene to investigate.
Church members say they will hold services Sunday in a field near the church.
