(MOBILE, Ala.) Some folks in a Midtown Mobile neighborhood say they're lucky they got through Thursday's storm with their lives.
"I was scared," Emilee Mayfield said.
Mayfield's first reaction likely the same as many other Orleans Street residents who walked outside Thursday morning.
"I saw the first trucks pull up, and the neighbors house was completely destroyed," Mayfield said.
Massive shade trees snapping like twigs crushing cars like this Land Rover. The straight-line winds slamming into a string of houses.
"It was a very frightening experience," Betty Russell said. She woke up to tornado sirens, followed by what she called an explosion.
Russell says she was only able to get out her back door after she found her neighbor's tree on her doorstep. Russell says her life was spared.
The massive tree trunk landing on top of her bedroom, while she slept in her living room last night.
"It's December, and things just do happen, you know, that we don't expect," she said.
