BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The United Methodist church is deciding what to do about a minister accused of killing his wife and trying to kill their 18-year-old daughter who is a student at South Alabama.
An attorney for the Methodist church in north Alabama, Terry McElheny, said the church is considering its options in the case of the Rev. Terry Greer.
McElheny says Greer could surrender his preaching credentials or be charged under church rules. His preaching duties already are suspended, but he remains a Methodist minister. McElheny said no decisions will be made until after it's clear whether Greer will recover from what police describe as a suicide attempt after the shootings.
McElheny says the church will investigate, but he wouldn't say whether the review will include matters other than the shootings.
Greer is charged with murder in the Jan. 10 shootings.
