(MOBILE, Ala.) - Hundreds of veterans and families were treated to a concert at Medal of Honor Park Sunday.
The Mobile Symphony Orchestra played a number of patriotic tunes, from the Star Spangled Banner to the 1812 Overture. There was even a fireworks finale.
Senator Jeff Sessions made a surprise appearance, thanking veterans for their service.
Session serves was a senior member on the Armed Forces Committee.
"We thank you from the bottom of our heart, and we need to be faithful and honor the commitments we've made to you. And we need to honor the commitments we've made to those that serve us today," Sessions said.
The concert was also a ribbon-cutting of sorts for the parks brand new pavilion. In true naval tradition, County Commissioner Connie Hudson christened the pavilion with a bottle of champagne.
