(MOBILE, Ala.) - Mayor Sam Jones is speaking out about the investigation into the murder of Officer Steven Green. Many questions remain unanswered about exactly how this tragedy occurred.
Mayor Jones said his top priority is to help Officer Green's family get through this difficult time. He said then, the city will move forward in their investigation.
"They have to do a review to determine what actually happened there. So, that's what we're waiting on. We're waiting on them to finish that. Once that's over, the chief, people within the department , as well as the sheriff's department , will do a review of everything that took place and kind of look at procedures that's in place," said Mayor Jones.
Members of the Mobile Police and Fire Pension Board appeared before the council with some concerns about Green's family.
They say there's no provision in their pension plan for a "Line of Duty" death, and because of that, Green's family will receive very little money from his pension plan.
The council says it will look closely at the possibility of making some changes to that plan.
