MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Mobile Mayor Sam Jones returned from Washington, D.C., now he's trying to get federal disaster aid for victims of the December tornadoes.

A month later, home and business owners are still trying to put their lives back together. Mayor Jones visited Washington for a mayor's conference this week. He said when it comes to getting federal aid, the lines of communication are open.

"They've assigned a person to talk to us to see what they can do. At least at this point it's on their radar. Normally it doesn't get on their radar until you get a FEMA declaration," Jones said.

Mayor Jones said he hopes a representative from the Obama Administration will come to Mobile to tour the damage.
