ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WPMI) The Escambia County Sheriff's Office is recognizing a local man for returning more than $12,000 in cash.

George Cooper said he was cleaning the shoreline along Scenic Highway January 26, when he found a plastic bag containing $12,303 and other paperwork.

Officials say Cooper turned the bag over the sheriff's deputies, who determined the money was not stolen but had been lost by Loomis Armored Car Services.
