PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) - A Florida Panhandle man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a fatal DUI crash.

An Escambia County judge sentenced 42-year-old Terry Eugene Lee on Wednesday. He pleaded no contest last month to DUI manslaughter, felony driving on a suspended license and DUI causing property damage.

The Pensacola News Journal reports that Lee crashed through a fence and hit a tree last November. His passenger, 49-year-old Brandee Scott, didn't survive the collision. Lee's blood alcohol level was recorded at 0.26 and 0.27 percent. Florida law considers a driver impaired at 0.08.

Just comes to show that Florida really puts the bite on DUI's. Alabama is so sorry that they cannot do what Florida does. Just like what happened back in 2009. A drunk driver hit us and he had a 0.26 BAC and also had a record in which he had no license, no insurance. They only charged him with no insurance. The driver admitted he was drinking and also taking medication. But this idiot got away with murder. This is not fair not only to myself, my wife, and my cousin, but not fair to anyone. There is no justice in Alabama when it deals with drunk driving.
