Man Burned in Suspected Meth Explosion
(SEMINOLE, Ala.) Nov. - A man was taken to the hospital Wednesday night with severe burns after a suspected meth lab explosion, Baldwin County Sheriff's deputies said.
Tony Mitchell received second and third degree burns in the fire around 10 p.m., at 32991 Mitchell Lane in Seminole.
After extinguishing the blaze, investigators found numerous bottles, hoses, jars, cooking devices, camp fuel, lithium batteries, drain cleaner and fertilizer on the property. Those are all materials used to make the illegal drug methamphetamine.
Investigators also found a sawed-off shotgun and a rifle.
Liquid found at the scene tested positive for methamphetamines. Methamphetamine residue was also found in several hoses at the property, authorities said.
This is the second fire that has injured Mitchell in less than six months, deputies said. The first fire destroyed any evidence pointing to its cause.
Mitchell has not yet been charged with any crime yet. The investigation is ongoing.
