PENSACOLA, Fla. (WPMI) Pensacola Police have made an arrest in a Christmas Eve kidnapping and murder.
Twenty-eight-year-old Trevon Nelson was arrested Tuesday and is charged with homicide, false imprisonment, burglary, grand theft of a vehicle and evidence tampering.
Torrance Hackworth was approached by several men around 2:45 p.m. on Christmas Eve, and was forced into his apartment, bound with duct tape and held hostage.
Hackworth's girlfriend and four children were inside the apartment at the time of the incident. They were held at gunpoint in the living room. While all six people who live at the home were tied up, the suspects ransacked the house and took cash and other items.
Police say the suspects beat Hackworth before dragging him outside and putting him in the trunk of the woman's car and taking off.
The woman's car was found about three hours later partially submerged at the Sanders Beach boat launch.
Hackworth's body was found December 27 in a vacant lot on North S Street. He had been shot several times.
More arrests are pending.
