MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI)  Mobile Police have arrested a man they say intentionally struck three police vehicles while leading officers on a chase.

Officials say the chase started at Cottage Hill Road and Lakeside Drive around 9:27 a.m.

Officers stopped a light green Ford Mustang, driven by the suspect, E.V. Dumas III, during a routine traffic stop.

Dumas sped away as the officer was approaching the vehicle.

Officers suspended the pursuit due to the dangerous nature of the chase.

Later, an officer observed the Mustang at Government Street and McVay Drive and tried to stop it.

Spike strips were placed on the road, and the Mustang was finally stopped at Navco Road and McVay Drive.

Officials say Dumas intentionally struck three police vehicles during the chase.

Dumas was arrested and charged with possessing a controlled substance, 2nd degree criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and attempting to elude police.
