BILOXI, Miss. (WPMI) The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) recovered a body about 4.3 miles south of Biloxi Beach.

A charter boat fisherman called Marine Patrol to report a body floating in the Mississippi Sound at 1:10 p.m. Friday.

Marine Police officers recovered the body at 1:37 p.m. They then notified the Harrison County Coroner.

The body matches the description of a kayaker who has been missing since Feb. 27. Positive identification is pending.

Marine Patrol began a search and rescue mission on that date for two missing kayakers who launched from Ocean Springs Harbor.

The body of one kayaker, Kenneth Rainer, 57, was recovered near the Biloxi east channel the next day.

Marine Patrol has continued 24-hour patrols of the area in search of missing kayaker Ranier, 22.
