(MOBILE, Ala.) - Rates for Mobile Area Water and Sewer System customers are going up.
The MAWSS board has passed a $56.6 million operating budget that includes a 5% increase in water and sewer rates.
The increase goes into effect January 1.
Last year, the board passed a measure to increase rates by 5% each year starting in 2012.
This is the second year of the measure.
