(SEMMES, Ala.) - Local voters gathered at the Semmes Community Center on Saturday to learn more about the candidates running for state and local offices.
It's all part of the Common Sense Campaign.
Former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore was at Saturday's event. He was removed from his post in 2003 for refusing to follow a federal judge's order. The order was to remove a monument of the Ten Commandments from public display in the state judicial building.
Moore announced that he would run again. And that's what Saturday's event was about, learning more about the candidates.
"Basically what we're doing is exercising our most precious gift given to us in the constitution, and that's the right to vote. As a part of that, it's important that we vet our candidates that we know who we're voting for," said Mike Matthews with Common Sense Campaign.
The Common Sense Campaign plans on holding at least two more forums before the March 13 primary.
