Clay County is the only county left in Alabama where there isn't a single place that you can't buy a beer legally. And there are plenty of people there happy to keep it that way.

At least the preachers have it easy: free home and board and fried chicken with the "ladies" each Friday and fire and brimstone on Sunday. The "sheep" continue to be led. All the while, the tax payers of Alabama are shelling out $350K of their hard earned money to this red neck county that has no tax base. It's unbelievable this is still happening. Time is bypassing the red neck and rural South.

Wow, sounds just like the dry county I grew up in, Columbia County Arkansas. The liquor stores just across the county line in adjoining counties even had drive thru service. That way the "dry county advocates" could buy their booze without being seen!

"...people won't vote for it in a rural area where family values are important..." Classic!. Not so much that the county is rural, but more so that family values are important. I would be willing to bet that crime is low there.
