(MOBILE, Ala.) Sept. 22 -- Their chant has been justice delayed is justice denied. Theresa Jordan says this case has dragged on so long she hears the chant in her sleep.
"It makes me sick," she said. "Just thinking about it makes me furious. I can't believe we have to do this."
Sleep isn't something she gets much of, though. Especially since so many of her nightmares have become a reality. For a third time, she says, the trial for her niece, Becca McEvoy has been postponed.
"Her voice needs to be heard," her other aunt, Rhonda Wheelus said. "That's why we are here, fighting for her while he walks free."
She says Monday should have been the day Bob Ingle faced his charges. Instead he's fighting them.
Ingle's lawyer says he has a right to face his accuser an impossibility after Becca died in a traffic accident. Now he's trying to get her testimony and those stemming from it thrown out.
"She no longer can tell us her story. We have to say it for her," Wheelus said.
The appeal was sent to the state criminal courts Friday where it will likely wait in line for months before receiving a ruling. Theresa says she's tired of these lines, tired of waiting, and mostly, just plain tired.
"Even though God gives forgiveness there is such a thing as justice," she said.
