MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) Even in the fog and the rain, King Felix has arrived in Mobile to reign over Mardi Gras.
King Felix, III, arrives every Lundi Gras by boat at Mobile Landing, and his parade rolls right at noon. But this year, there was a slight change. The rain forced the King and his court to dock behind the Convention Center, instead of at Cooper's Riverside Park.
Onlookers took shelter from bad weather underneath the Convention Center's parking garage.
And the Floral Parade which follows the King's arrival was cut short. The parade took an alternate route so the children in the parade wouldn't have to be in the rain for too long.
Still, King Felix, whose real name is Taylor Morrissette III isn't letting the weather dampen his big day.
"It's so much fun. It revs up the city and I'm looking forward to the parades. We don't worry about the weather. We can't control it so we're not going to worry about it," said Morrissette.
