(Bay Minette, Ala.) February 26 -
New information is being released about the teens accused of killing a Baldwin County father. In court Thursday, prosecutors gave graphic details of how they say each teen contributed to the murder of Robert Aitcheson, last month. An attorney was present for each of the 4 teens that appeared Thursday. They all took turns asking investigators specific questions about their clients. Investigators say the teens have been quoted saying”the murder was a robbery gone bad”.
Handcuffed and in striped jumpsuits, four of the five teens accused of killing Robert Aitcheson found out they will be staying in jail. The defense asked a Baldwin County judge to reduce their bond from one million dollars down to sixty thousand dollars or less. And after going though all the facts of the horrific murder that took place that January night, a judge denied the request. "They are teenagers that no matter what the outcome of the case, their lives are ruined."
Investigators Thursday said Aitcheson’s son, Ian….gave Danny Weaver a knife from the kitchen and told him to stab his father. Investigators then say Ian poured gasoline all over Robert as they held him down on the couch. "Well, I think if you heard the facts that were presented today it was pretty gruesome."
Investigators also revealed Thursday that Darlene Jerkins is who drove the car after they set the trailer on fire. Investigators say Amen Wellock, who was not in court today….should be considered just as responsible as the others.
"The one who's not eligible for the death penalty is kind of the ring leader….the one that kind of instigated all of this." Family members of the accused didn't have much to say as they left the courtroom.
A judge denied the request to reduce the teens bond. Prosecutors say they don’t expect this case to go to trial until sometime next year.
