(ORANGE BEACH, Ala.) Aug. 20 - It's a popular hangout at The Wharf in Orange Beach, but Johnny Rockets failed to "lift off" during an inspector's unannounced visit this week.
Baldwin County Health Department officials’ Aug. 13 report shows violations, including five critical violations. Violations including sewer flies, cold food held at the wrong temperature and homemade items inspectors say was prepared in an unrated kitchen. Inspector’s notes also show they found moldy food.
It was reportedly enough for the owners to clean house: literally and figuratively. Right now, they under new management and the new team is looking to soar to higher heights in the future. But for now, “The Rocket" has been grounded a bit with a deplorable score of 64. Health inspectors say that’s only four points away from being "temporarily scrubbed" with an emergency closing.
Elsewhere at the Stop N Shop on Laurel Avenue in Foley, inspectors found violations including fly bait stored over your food in the kitchen, which is raw food stored over cooked food. That carries the threat of cross contamination. Inspectors also say they found employees drinking from unapproved cups in the food prep area. Last time, the Stop N Shop earned an impressive rating of 94 out of 100 points; this week they failed to get the green light with 79 points. A score of 85 and higher is considered passing.
Magnolia Court Restaurant on McKenzie Street in Foley also racked up some violations. Inspectors say the restaurant's half and half creamers were found at 57 degrees, which food police say is too hot for safety. Magnolia Court was also cited for toxic items on their food contact surfaces, and serves up Baldwin County's third lowest health rating this week of 83.

Mobile County Health officials say the golden arches on Old Shell Road in Mobile are once again a shining example of who's getting it right. Last time we checked in on the McDonald’s located at 5601 Old Shell, they had a below average score of 79. Inspectors came back for a follow up visit, and the restaurant has a new and improved score of 92.
Circle K earned better check marks this time. Last time they had a 73 this week, how about a more respected 92.
The feathers were also flying when Church's Chicken located on Halls Mill Road in Mobile earned a below average score of 74 during their last inspection. This week, they've got a lot to crow about with a much improved score of 90 out of 100 possible points.
The Discount Zone on Azalea Road also improved from a score of 72 to a score of 91. failed to make the grade with a score of 72.
