(MOBILE, Ala.) May 22 - GMAC Insurance says one in six drivers on U.S. roadways would fail a written driver's test.
The survey was given to more than 100 drivers in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia and tested basic driving knowledge and procedure.
The worst drivers in the nation, according to the survey, live in New York.
Alabama drivers came in 26th, Mississippi drivers came in 38th and Florida drivers came in 43rd.
Idaho and Wisconsin tied for the title of nation's best drivers with an average score of 87 percent on the questionnaire.
