MOBILE BAY (WPMI) Many families didn't want to wait until the ship docked before trying to reach their loved ones on board. In fact, some traveled to the Port City despite Carnival saying it would shuttle those people to New Orleans and Texas.

Local 15's Christian Jennings talked with families from Louisiana, Texas, even from as far away as Indiana. They patiently waited into Thursday night for the Triumph to make its way to the Cruise Terminal.

"We want to get them off," said Rusty Atkins.

Rusty and his wife drove 18 hours from Indiana to wait on their daughter, four nieces and sister. They said seconds felt like hours.

"I have been sick over this," Beth Atkins said.

For the first time since Monday, the Atkins' daughter Brianna called to check in. Over the phone, Brianna said, "It's freezing. Everyone is wearing their robes out here."

Brianna described the awful condition on board the Triumph, saying "We had to poop in the shower. We had to poop in a red bag. You just can't wash your legs off or anything. They shut down the pools, they shut down the hot tub."

Brianna said the first thing she wanted to do when she got off the ship was eat a hot meal.
