HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Some students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville are calling for the campus Chick-fil-A restaurant to close after a company executive's comments caused an uproar in the debate over gay marriage.

WAAY-TV reports that members of UA Huntsville's Gay-Straight Alliance want the restaurant shut down.

GSA Founder and President Heather Shelton said having the restaurant on campus is not consistent with the university's anti-discrimination policy. She said the group plans to take up the issue with Sodexo, which operates the campus Chick-fil-A.

Another student, Adelle Sutton, disagrees. Sutton said Chick-fil-A is a Christian company, and that people should be respectful of everyone's opinions.

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press this month that the Atlanta-based company was "guilty as charged" for backing "the biblical definition of a family."

Tolerance only works if it works for everyone. If you don't like what a business owner believes and says then don't patronize that business. If a business discriminates in service to patrons the FEDs will take care of that but someone stating their beliefs is not YET against the law.People sure seem to have a targeted sense of tolerance.

Please don't throw blacks in the same pot with gays. That is what makes me mad about the gay rights agenda. The majority of christian black people believe that marriage is between one man and one woman too.

So you are saying that your beliefs tell you to hate Blacks too? I suppose it's not discrimination then.

"anti-discrimination policy". It is also discrimination for these students or anyone else to call for the closure based on Chick-fil-a's freedom of speech as well as their religious beliefs . It is funny how they all want to discriminate against a company that has always taken a stance based on religion. They didn't call on the closure because they are closed on Sundays in accordance with their beliefs . The problem with gays or blacks is they want to be allowed to trample the rights of others and always say it is because of discrimination . Beliefs are not discrimination.
